A few months back iPhotography launched its annual photography competitions to celebrate students’ development, achievements, commitment and outstanding work throughout 2017.
These competitions included: Photographer of the Year, Outstanding Contribution, Most Popular #IOTY, (image of the year), 12 days of Christmas competitions and Tutors Choice.
Thank you to all those of you who entered, took part in the competitions and registered your votes in the polls.
We were overwhelmed with the responses, comments and standard of students images uploaded to the gallery throughout 2017. You have obviously all been very busy putting your new found photography skills into practice; it is fantastic to witness you developing your own unique styles and expanding your individual creativity.

A name synonymous with travel and cultural photography, along with being last year’s winner of IOTY, it is no surprise that this year you chose Barry Tetchner as your photographer of the year!
Barry demonstrates versatility through his use of various techniques. His imagery is raw, gritty and thought-provoking. His work holds unmistakable style, making him recognisably stand out within the gallery.

Outstanding Contribution Award 2017: Congratulations Tim Archer (UK)
iPhotography Outstanding Contribution takes into consideration the presence and impact of members within all areas of the site. This includes activity within the gallery, chat wall, forum, competitions, offering positive and constructive feedback to other students, as well as their own progress and achievements throughout the year – the tutors were once again unanimous in their decision.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that the winner of this prestigious accolade for 2017 is non-other than Tim Archer – for the second year running!
Tim has been an active, positive member within iPhotography since 2012! Ask any member of the iPhotography community and Tim Archer is a man they will be familiar with; whether that be because of his outstanding wildlife photography or for the helpful, positive and constructive comments he offers to fellow students.
Once again, all of us at iPhotography feel that Tim has gone way above and beyond the call of duty throughout 2017; he is therefore a commendable winner for our ‘Outstanding Contribution award’.
We are sure all the students and members will join us in saying a huge ‘Thank you Tim, for all that you do. We feel honoured to have you as a member within our community and hope that you will continue to inspire us all throughout 2018.’
Tim will shortly receive his winners glass trophy along with the winning prize of £250 amazon gift voucher, along with access to the Turn Your Photography into a Business Course – Congratulations!
Most Popular Image of the year (IOTY) 2017: Congratulations Nicky Thomas (UK)
Students of the gallery and our voting poll, along with fans and followers across our social media platforms were behind the choice of ‘Most Popular Image of the Year’ through their likes, shares, retweets, favourites and comments. It was a tough and very close competition, but eventually you chose your overall winner for 2017 as Nicky Thomas!
Anyone familiar with the iPhotography private gallery will most probably remember his dramatic and perfectly executed ‘Powder Dancer’ image.
The image holds a real sense of strength and power. It is both creative and emotive. The control in this shot is outstanding – it is beautifully composed and expressive.

We had some fantastic entries throughout December for our 12 days of Christmas competition, thank you to everyone that got involved and took part – it certainly added some additional joy and festive spirit to the gallery.
The overall winner of the 12 days of Christmas, both chosen by the iPhotography Tutors and students is: Jessica Nightingale with her ‘Polar Express’ image. It’s no surprise that this image was the top-rated photo throughout December 2017!

Tutor’s Choice 2017: Congratulations Anna Chmura-Jenkins (USA)
Although some of you newer students may not be aware, the tutors at iPhotography are always busy taking notes on students’ progression, their gallery uploads, and development through the course itself, all year round. This is why, when it gets to our end of year competitions we get so excited to be able to celebrate our students’ achievements.
One person who has definitely stood out to us this year is Anna Chmura-Jenkins.
Brave photographers are always respected by their peers, which is why Anna receives constant praise in the student gallery for her willingness to push the boundaries in whatever location she’s in.
Never one to shy away from competitions, Anna is a regular winner of the iPhotography #WeekendChallenge and #POTD contests, she rises to a challenge and isn’t afraid to experiment and try new things. Anna’s creativity is second to none.
Anna never misses an opportunity to show the beauty in everyday scenes and objects that many lesser mere mortals would simply walk past in a daze without noticing; it’s an ability that affects only the creative souls of this world and it’s a precious gift to harbour. Anna truly is a rare talent!
You all voted her third in the Photographer of the Year 2017 competition, a huge accomplishment!
It is for all those reasons, and having witnessed her progress over the last year that the iPhotography tutors have selected Anna as their ‘Tutors Choice’ winner. We can’t wait to see how she develops throughout 2018.
“Congratulations Anna – keep up the fantastic work, we are all routing for you.”
Anna will receive $100 amazon.com gift voucher, and an additional course of her choice – Congratulations!
Congratulations and Thank You!
We wish all our winners the very best of luck on their future ventures, and hope that we continue to see and hear more of their achievements within the iPhotography community and gallery soon.
Winning images will be displayed on the iPhotography homepage and also within the new updated site.
Some fantastic winners this year – huge congratulations to you all!
Also congratulations to all the other students who were shortlisted and got involved throughout the competitions.
Special thanks to all the students (and tutors) who got involved with the voting process and took part in selecting this year’s winners. We hope you all enjoyed the process as much as we did at iPhotography.

Learn photography the iPhotography™ way
There’s no right or wrong way to take a photograph. But, if you spend all your time obeying the ‘rules’ of photography, your work will simply look like everyone else’s.
A shot can be technically perfect but aesthetically boring! That’s why iPhotography Course not only teaches you all the standard technical expertise, settings, skills, and special effects with your camera – but we also show you how to use these skills to develop your own individual style as a photographer. By the end of iPhotography Course, you’ll see the world differently, and the world will recognize your shots as your shots.
