iPhotography Photographer of the Year 2016: Tony Lawrence
Congratulations Tony – Photographer of the Year 2016
Tony joined the iPhotography community back in 2014 and passed the iPhotography course in 2015 – he has inspired and motivated many students along his journey.
He is no stranger to accolades, having achieved 7 POTD recognitions in the past 12 months, 66 gold medals in the gallery and over 100 medals in total! It is safe to say his work definitely doesn’t go unnoticed.
In March last year, iPhotography launched the Top 10 blog where the highest rated images of that month, voted for by students, would be featured. Tony Lawrence has had an incredible 6 photographs showcased over the past 9 months, making him one of the most highlighted, recognised photographers within iPhotography so far!
However, this year, he is getting the greatest recognition of all by being crowned Photographer of the Year 2016!
Given his coastal location of Moonta Bay, Australia, the world of seascapes welcomes Tony with arms wide open. However, it is his unique depth, clarity, colour and tone that make his shots so established throughout the gallery. Tony has a keen eye for composition and an innate knowledge of shutter control that transforms his art work to spectacular, striking seascapes.
Capturing romantic sunsets, interesting and dramatic foregrounds, clever use of light, textures, reflections, leading lines, milky waters, and his ability to use various different techniques all demonstrate Tony’s great control over the camera, along with his admirable, creative artistic eye. The hard work and dedication that Tony has put into his photography has well and truly paid off.
As proof of all this, you voted for Tony as your winner! iPhotography now has the pleasure of rolling out the red carpet for this years Photographer of the Year. Tony has a few words of thanks he would like to share with you all:
Hi and thanks very much for the award and recognition. I really enjoy putting photos up every month to iPhotography and enjoy reading the comments and different views from others; I’ve learnt a lot about photography from the process.
When I first started to learn photography a couple of years ago I found iPhotography online, signed up for the course and got stuck in; this course gave me the basics and helped me understand my camera and some compositional aspects of photography.
I have learnt just as much from sharing my photos in the student gallery and looking at others work; I find the ongoing support from the iPhotography tutors and other members to be invaluable in growing as a photographer.
This year I hope to continue to add more photos to the gallery as my wife and I plan to do more travel in the coming months within Australia and overseas. We love to travel and take photos whenever we can and I have found being at the right place at the right time is the best way to get good shots.
