iPhotography Competition Winners 2016

A few months back iPhotography launched their annual competitions to celebrate and recognise students’ development, achievements, commitment and outstanding work throughout 2016.

Thank you to all those of you who entered, took part in the competitions and registered your votes in the polls. We were overwhelmed with the responses, comments and standard of students images uploaded to the gallery throughout 2016. You have obviously all been very busy putting your new found photography skills into practice; it is fantastic to witness you developing your own unique styles and expanding your individual creativity.


Announcing Our 2016 Winners…

This year’s winners were shortlisted by our team of iPhotography tutors and by students and members voting in the online competition poll. We hope you will all join us in congratulating the winners on their success and progress throughout 2016.


Photographer of the Year 2016: Congratulations Tony Lawrence (AU)

To be shortlisted and selected for iPhotography Photographer of the Year, students needed to demonstrate a unique and individual style (that stood out as recognisable within the gallery).

You voted in your thousands for the name that you wanted to be crowned as Photographer of the Year and we are proud to announce that this year’s winner is Tony Lawrence!

A name synonymous with stunning and dramatic sunsets and seascapes, it is no surprise that you chose Tony Lawrence as your photographer of the year!

Tony demonstrates versatility through his use of various techniques. His imagery holds unique depth, tone and clarity. His work holds unmistakable style, making him recognisably stand out within the gallery. All of this, along with your votes, has contributed towards seeing him crowned this year’s iPhotography Photographer of the Year!

Outstanding Achievement/Contribution Award 2016: Congratulations Tim Archer (UK)

iPhotography Outstanding Contribution takes into consideration the presence and impact of members within all areas of the site. This includes activity within the gallery, chat wall, forum, competitions, offering positive and constructive feedback to other students, as well as their own progress and achievements throughout the year – the tutors were unanimous in their decision.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that the winner of this prestigious accolade for 2016 is non-other than Tim Archer.

Tim has been an active, positive member within iPhotography since 2012! Ask any member of the iPhotography community and Tim Archer is a man they will be familiar with; whether that be because of his outstanding wildlife photography or for the helpful, positive and constructive comments he offers to fellow students.

All of us at iPhotography feel that Tim has gone way above and beyond the call of duty throughout 2016; he is therefore a commendable winner for our ‘Outstanding Contribution award’.

We are sure all the students and members will join us in saying a huge ‘Thank you Tim, for all that you do’. We feel honoured to have you as a member within our community.

Most Popular Photo of the Day (POTD) 2016: Congratulations Barry Tetchner (UK)

barry tetchner winner photo of the dayFans and followers across our social media platforms were behind the choice of ‘Most Popular Photo of the Day’ through their likes, retweets, favourites, comments and shares of our regular ‘Photo of the Day (POTD)’ feature.  And your overall winner for 2016 was Barry Tetchner!

Anyone familiar with the iPhotography private gallery will most probably remember his captivating and striking ‘lion’ image. It was raw, hard-hitting, full of detail, perfectly composed and brilliantly captured.

Most Popular Gold Medal Image 2016: Congratulations Per-Axel (SW)

All you students and members within our private student gallery (along with social media followers) were behind the choice of ‘Most Popular Gold Medal Image’ through Likes, retweets, favourites, comments, shares – and of course our competition voting pole. Your overall winner for 2016 (that stormed ahead with over 50% of all total voting) was the wonderfully creative and talented Per Axel!

With an outstanding 22 comments on this shot and many, many 5 star votes Per-Axel has taken the crown for 2016 King of the Gold Medals! In addition, Per-Axel’s image became so popular it was the top rated image of the month for August 2016, a large achievement in itself.
